Starting the adventure

Duffy with his passport and phone. He’s getting ready for his new adventure.

Since the end of July, I have been getting ready for a new adventure. I decided to take a job with Disney English teaching in China.

In August, I worked on course work for teaching English as a Second Language. It was pretty much a review of classes that I took during my time at UCF for elementary education. Once, I finished the work, it was time to get doctor appointments done. It was difficult finding a place that would do work physicals for visas. Once I found a place to do it, I found out that I have WPW (Wolff- Parkinson- White) syndrome. Here is a link to learn more: https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/000151.htm . I got cleared from the cardiologist. Everything else was fine. Once all the medical clearance was done, I was able to get my visa.

The journey to Houston was fun, but kinda of stressful. I dropped everything off at the consulate after arriving on Monday morning. Tuesday was a day full of Disney PLUS and reading. On Wednesday, I went to the Houston Science Museum and got to see wonderful exhibits on Stonehenge, LEGOS, and Fabrege items. Thursday got stressful, because things didn’t go according to plan, but in the end, everything worked out. I was able to go to the Houston Zoo Christmas Lights display Friday night and I had a blast!

I was able to spend Thanksgiving week with family up in Illinois. I am happy that I was able to spend time with friends and family before leaving.

I am currently sitting at Orlando International waiting to board my plane for LAX. It has been an emotional week, full of excitement, nerves, tears, and laughter. *Edit* We got bumped to an exit row to LAX for free

I am currently working on a bucket list of things to do while I am abroad. If you have any ideas, let me know!
