First Holiday in China

The past few weeks have been filed with apartment hunting, signing a lease (with some headaches along the way), spending time with new friends, and moving.

I found an apartment with my new friend, Kayla. It is close to her center and not too far from mine (just a few metro lines). We are on the 42nd floor and I have a great view of the local mountains.

After signing my lease (and all the drama that went with it), I met friends for Holiday trivia and bar. We did fairly well and I learned new facts. Afterwards, we went to see Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker (which I enjoyed). We moved into our apartment, I moved a little later (so I knew that I’d have a WiFi connection). After work on Christmas Eve, I met up with new friends for a Christmas party with traditional western food. We had a White Elephant gift exchange and played games. I love these moments, because I feel like I’m back home.

Ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, candied yams, and broccoli (Chinese) and carrots
Pumpkin pie, molasses cookie, shortbread cookie with red hots, Nutella pecan sandies, a traditional sugar cookie, and cranberry and white chocolate cookie

On Christmas, I finished moving into the apartment and did some shopping for organizational things. I went for a hike with friends in the afternoon. We ended up walking about 10 miles…. I’m rounding down, because my FitBit tracked 15 miles. We made it to the summit of the mountain. I took some wonderful pictures… I am hoping I can pull some off my camera to add them here.
