I want to start this post off by saying that I have rediscovered that I can be very negative I can be, in the sense that I am my toughest critic. That being said, 2019 has been one hell of a year, and I’m not sad to see it go.
During winter break last year, I was unhappy with my career. I love my students, and miss them dearly, but I was super stressed and worn down. I started looking into different jobs. Something that would provide more financial security, give me the option to travel, and possibly continue to teach. Without airing my dirty laundry, Eddie and I realized we rushed into our marriage (even with being friends since middle school). This lead me to apply for the Peace Corps and Disney English. I won’t bore you with details between applying and landing here in China with Disney English.
2019 ended with Tacos falling into my lap (which definitely put a damper on my night, but I survived 😅)
During the last month, I have met so many wonderful people and made many new friends. I have proved to my self that I am stronger than I have ever thought.
The best of 2019
Best trip (vacation) – NYC with my mom for our birthdays. We saw Lion King and Come From Away.

Best Gift– A Photo From one 1 of my kiddos that I had last year and in 1st grade. The picture is from our class trip to the aquarium. This student grew so much from first to third.
Best Memory– Playing Twister as an adult after some refreshments 🤣
Best Movie- (New release)Avengers: Endgame… not necessarily everything I wanted but pretty damn close; followed by Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker; (watched in theaters for the first time)- Jurassic Park- This played at the Tampa theater and I was able to go with great friends.
Favorite Book- The Chain
Holiday (states)- Friendsgiving. It was a great way to say goodbye to some of my closest friends.
Best Mental Health- I asked friends to describe me in one word. I wrote these on the mirror. Confident, strong, powerful, eccentric, beautiful, smart, funny, caring, sexy, kind
Hardest part of moving to China- leaving Banner in the States

Scariest moment– stepping on the plane in LA to fly for 15 hours to Guangzhou.

Most Thankful: I have the most supportive tribe. Family, friends, and co-workers that became best friends.
Brutally Honest Truth: This has been the hardest year (financially, mentally, and emotionally) up to this point in my life. I have cried more times than I care to admit, but I have survived it all.
Jaw Dropping Moment- live streaming karaoke and having Facebook flag it as copyright material because about 1/7th of it sounded like the original.

What a great idea to have a blog. I’m so glad I get to be an armchair traveler on your adventure. I pray for your protection and lots of cool exploring.
